I think this is him in 1871

But with a wife named Jane... I've looked on FreeBMD for a death of Elizabeth but my knowledge of Yorkshire reg. districts is zero - there are a few possibles. There's a possible marriage to Jane in 1865 in Tadcaster (is that nearby?)

Edit :- Not sure what's going on here found him in 1881 but with Elizabeth! Did she go by both names?

Hi Sue, and thank you for your help. Yes the 1881 image is definitely my Thomas, but the 1871 puzzles me.....not only is the wife wrong but the date of birth is quite a long way out too, but everything else fits!
