Sunderland BMD site
Thanks to Kiterunner I went on this site looking for a death that wasn't in freebdm for 1869.
Now whilst there I found the couple of possibilities that Kite gave me but amazingly there were connections to the Book of Remembrance - although mine weren't in the book - it gave the date at the top. I checked this with a couple of death certificates I already had and their result linked with the right day for their date of death. Don't know if other councils have such connections.

I noticed the Book of Remembrance but I didn't realise it gave the death date for people who didn't have an entry added by relatives or friends. That's useful to know, Julie.

Yes it went to the date of death in case there was an entry.

I checked the few I have in Sunderland but not all the pages have been scanned in yet so I don't know if there is an entry or not but it is a wonderful facility and a great way to find out the DOD.
