There is a John Wood Byers, son of Alexander and Mary, born 1870 in New Zealand (on New Zealand BDM site). I can't find a birth for the Alexander age 1 who is on that passenger list though, nor a death for John before the date of the passenger list. Edit - found births for Mary Byars in 1868 and Jane Hellen Alexandrina Byars in 1871 so forget about John Wood Byers, he must belong with them.

For some reason I'm getting a blank screen for that passenger list, but as the link says "join" I assume it's because I don't have world wide membership.

Is it possible that Alexander junior should be recorded as 10, not 1?

It's difficult to disentangle the various Alexander Byers. There is one who dies in Birmingham in 1861 aged 33 who might possibly be the father. And another who has money problems in Manchester in the late 1860s.

Given some other information that I had discounted as I had not idea where it had come from and looked like it was uncertain, I think it is Mary Ann COLLIGAN, misspelled on my info which is why I had not come across it.

Edit to say. you are correct Phoenix, it is obviously MOORE, maybe someone in the past had found that marriage and assumed COLLIGAN.

What a difference some difference sets of eyes make! You have no idea how much time I had spent on this family before I finally posted this! 38C temperatures at the time did not help!
