Did you read the info about Lydia Farmer (JTH's second wife), Merry? Widow, "crippled", "lost left arm", sentenced to 10 years transportation for stealing a handkerchief. It was her second offence.

I did indeed. I was going to say she sounds like a catch, but that's unkind, so I won't!

Thomas John Hogg's wife in London, Anna, nee Norman, was buried just nine months after her husband was transported, on 4th July 1841 at St John the Baptist, Hoxton aged 28. It's definitely her as the address recorded is Cleft Street which is where she was living in 1841 with her two daughters and unmarried sister, Maria Norman, who was a witness in the Hogg court case.

I wonder what happened to the two little girls, Sophia Hogg aged 5 in 1841 and Emily Charlotte Hogg aged 2?

Yay!! I've found JT Hogg's baptism in 1812 at St James', Wetherby, Yorkshire on Ancestry. It's nice to properly connect him!

There's a bap at the same church for a Richard Hogg, son of John in 1787 which could possibly be the right Richard.

I'm just putting these bits here so I can check back later if I think they are the right entries!
