Default New facility on Ancestry

Has anyone else spotted that Ancestry now has the facility to offer up a shared ancestor in certain circumstances?

Much to my amazement, I am being told that the shared ancestors in one case are the couple rumoured to be Joseph Bodycote’s parents.

Other Bodycote descendants can prove their direct descent from this couple. I had held back, initially because there was nothing to say that a baptism that turned up was my Joseph and the date didn’t seem to fit and latterly because I am not a DNA match with a known descendant. It looks on the face of it as if the pieces of the puzzle are finally coming together.

However, I’m guessing this is based on the contents of trees on Ancestry and even a cursory glance raises loads of issues with accuracy.

If I can’t prove the connection myself, which I can’t, can I, should I accept this at face value.

Has anyone else had a look at this? Does anyone else have a view?
