Hope this doesn't spoil the surprise when the marriage certificate arrives, but it's in the LMA records on ancestry - 1st October 1895 at St Mary Magdalene, Wandsworth Common.

Ooh Sarah - I also have a man with CUSTANCE/CUSTINS as his middle name, and he is from Norfolk too. Great-great-great gran's brother-in-law (now that's stretching, but he was a VERY interesting man) was Samuel Custance Brazill (1794-1838).

Hello Di,
I have never found out where the 'Custance' bit comes from. This chap's family is from Holt. I guess I shoud get digging to see if there was anyone in the village with that name... Let me know if you find anything & I'll do the same. 4 times in my tree: Parson Custance Baker 1843 and his brother William Custance Baker 1843 Parson's 3rd son : Louis Custance Baker 1874 William's son : Alan Custance Baker 1885 (the second son got mmn as his second name so 'Custance' is pretty important in the family I'd guess) I haven't got anything on William's family after 1891 so there may be more. Parson's family is my direct line and I haven't seen any more there.

Hi Sarah
Samuel Custance Brazill was the son of Jacob Brazill and Mary Custance, and their daughter was Harriet Custance Brazill. Both were baptised in Great Yarmouth. The Brazills are my line, so I have not researched the Custance line, but I might have a bit of a dig around. An ancient name in north-east Norfolk maybe Di |

If you are lucky you may find a connection to John Custance of Weston Longville (he lived there, but not sure where he was born - baptised in Norwich) who is one of the main 'characters' in the diaries of Parson James Woodforde (1740-1803). John's dates are 1749-1822 and he married Frances Beauchamp in 1778. If you come across the names Press or Hambleton as first or last names, then you are likely to get to John eventually! From the comments made by Parson Woodforde in his diaries, John sounds like a very nice man to have in your tree.
