Lines - Hughes marriage
Edward Lines married Mary Ann Hughes in the first quarter of 1850
Family Search provides an exact date and says Edward is 21 and married in Canterbury. Actually Edward was 41, and Freebmd gives reg district as Lambeth. Questions:
Since I cannot find a record of the marriage online, I assume the couple married in a peculiar where the records were retained by Lambeth Palace, rather than ultimately being deposited at the LMA (unless, of course, it was a church unfortunately firebombed in WW2) I'm giving a talk in a fortnight so it's only worth buying a cert if it's likely to arrive within that time.

If you click on "Document Information", it shows microfilm number 413316. If you look that film number up in the catalogue, it is Marriage allegations for the Province of Canterbury, 1660-1851. And Notes: Microfilm of original records at the Lambeth Palace in London.
I don't know how long a marriage cert takes to arrive.

I would have guessed it was marriage allegations, because the parties' ages are often given as 21 years and upwards, which FS often transcribes as 21.

Thank you, everyone.
I was curious to know who the witnesses were, but looking at all the surrounding facts I now have, and given it's four working days plus second class post, I think I'll wait before ordering. Who knows, marriages may yet be orderable as pdfs!
