William isn't with Harriet and the family in 1851 so presumably was at sea.

I see there is another William Bail(e)y born Pill / Easton in Gordano around 1833 who is a Mariner in 1851, son of Annis, to confuse the issue! Then in 1861 this other William (presumably) is a Steward on a Packet, living in Clifton, Bristol, with a wife Mary, and then he is a widower in 1871. just so we know he isn't the one we're looking for on the censuses. But very likely your William was at sea for most or all of those censuses.

Thank you Kate, I've looked for them, but still can't find them, did you find them as Bailey?
No, my William was born in 1830 and he didn't marry his Mary, just had children with her. :)

kiterunner 14-11-10 18:42

No, they're listed as Barley on ancestry. Sorry, I didn't notice before!

Now I see there is another William Bailey age 11 in St George in 1841, so he might be that one that was married to Mary and lived in Clifton.

Thank you, I've found them now.
How are you so clever at finding these people?
Yes, he must be the other William because mine is with his mother.

kiterunner 15-11-10 11:07

I meant, rather than that one I found before who was the son of Annis.

Morf, I've found him on crew lists!

Sending you a PM.

It says he was born at Pill, which is very close to Easton-in-Gordano.

ElizabethHerts 15-11-10 11:18

He is with other Baileys, and others, also from Pill.

William appears to be a witness here:
