I have now found William Child's baptism.

More information coming to light.

Martha, William's first wife, was buried on 9th April 1770 at All Saints, Darton, Yorkshire.

William remarried the same year, to
Ann Peckett or Peccett.

27th November 1770 at All Saints, Darton, Yorkshire.

I have found three further baptisms at Darton:
William baptised 12th November 1771, buried 14th November 1771
William baptised 2nd April 1773
Joseph born 4th July 1775, baptised 20th August 1775.

After that no further baptisms at Darton.

I assume they then went to Manchester.
I have seen a couple of baptisms in the Manchester area so I need to investigate.

There is a burial in 1792 at St James, Manchester for a William Child.

The William Child in question was born c. 1745, which ties up.
I need to find more evidence.

Another burial at St James, Manchester.

https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery...fc6d723ea60680

William Child son of William and Ann Child aged 17
died 12th September 1790
buried 14th September 1790

It ties in with the William baptised at Darton in 1773.
