Age is obliterated and Ancestry have it as aged 27. FMP have it as "null"

I wonder could he survive all those years in the workhouse or do you think he just went in at the census time or something?

John Lewsey is in there in 1891 and then in 1901 if it is correct didn't die until 1905!

I think if you get the death cert and he was still in the workhouse at the time of his death then you have probably answered your question.
You could always look for the workhouse records, if they still survive.
