Mother of John Gough FFFFM
 

John Gough occupation tailor, was born about 1806 according to the 1941 census in Leicestershire, he died in 1844 aged 42 making birth year 1802, the only baptism i can find is in 1793, giving Richard Gough and Mary as parents, which i think is too early.

There is a baptism on FamilySearch for a John Goff in 1804 at Thorpe Acre and Dishley, Leicestershire, parents John and Anne. It doesn't give the exact baptism date. Possible.

But all the other Goffs from Thorpe Acre that I can find on the censuses are publicans / licensed victuallers, so probably not.

Thank you again Kite, i do have that Goff spelling in the family, Johns wife Mary died 6 months after he did and in the workhouse at least one of the children had that spelling.

John`s son also John was also a tailor, so i`m wondering if the father was too, i will ask Leicester RO for a search when i have a few quids to spare.

Thank you for your interest Del, none of them mine though, my John and Mary were married in 1824 at st Margarets church Leicester and thier children were all baptised there.
