Robert Westlake, - Somerset

This week, we are focussing on your mother's mother's mother's father's

Name - "official" name and what they were known as Robert Westlake
Date and place of birth ? presume Somerset (probably Puriton or Mark)
Names of parents ?
Date and place of baptism - if applicable Abt 1739
Details of each of his or her marriages - if any 23 June 1763 in Moorlinch St Mary, Eng to Sarah Meere (b ? died 23 Jun 1763 Moorlinch St. Mary)
Occupation(s) - if any ?
Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!).
Date, place and cause of death 24 May 1857, Puriton, St. Michael
Date and place of burial.
Details of will / administration of their estate - if applicable

Actually I have marriage date 23 June 1763 and Sarah's date of death the same - this must be incorrect, as she had 2 children that I know of
Richard Westlake b. 04 Jun 1775 & Robert Westlake 12 June 1768 at Puriton, Somerset

Are you sure of his death? That would make him 118 at death.

There is this one on the NBI 3

1 January 1833 at St Michael and all Angels, Puriton aged 94 therefore born 1739

No Marg, that has always been a bone of contention for me. I got that Puddy information years and years ago (on paper) - probably before computers, and it always seemed wrong.

Would it be easier to find the parents of the children Richard b 1775 and Robert b12 June 1768. Or to confirm the supposed marriage on 23 June 1763 at Moorlinch St Mary. I don't have death or marriage for the younger Robert.

I'm not sure how far Moorlinch is from Puriton and Mark, but all my Puddys & Westlakes apparently came from there. I do know the history is correct up to the younger Robert Westlake and his wife Elizabeth Dunstone, but the parents are a bit of a concern.

All those places are pretty close to each other. Just check them out on Google maps, that's what I did.

I sort of did look Marg, but not being english and not familiar with towns, counties etc. - I could recognise Bridgewater, couldn't see Mark or Puriton (don't laugh, i have actually been to those 3 towns) - I'll take your word for it.

Fairly close. I can see that now. Thanks, Marg

It seems that you already posted this person up on TO3G, Jood?

If so, then we would need to find the baptism of that Robert to get his father's name as it is his father who you need for TO4G (unless you have one of those complicated trees where you have the same ancestors on more than one line but in different generations!).

I've spent a bit of time sorting out the Robert Westlakes of which there are two, father & son.

The older Robert Westlake I have recorded as abt 1739 but there is no record of a baptism for him in the Somerset Parish Entries - nor can I find Sarah Meare, as the records were only for Puriton and they were married in Moorlinch St Mary.
(Not sure if Moorlinch is the town or St Mary is - I assume Moorlinch is the town and St Mary is the church?)

I apologise for all the previous repetitions as the two Robert Westlakes were very confusing.
