mother not showing

Hi everyone I am trying to trace my mother I can find her birth but she then seems to disappear before showing again after her marriage, Mary Horton b 23rd Dec 1919 Prescot Lancashire M Thomas Bennett 1944 St Helens Lancashire. Would there be any specific reason for this?

The only place you will find her (until 1921 census is published) would be the 1939. She is too young to vote before war broke out.

I'll have a look andsee if I can find her .

What kind of records are you hoping to find?

Maybe Ben searched on Ancestry where the above 1939 record for Mary has not yet been opened.

mother not showing

Thanks for your replies I was hoping to see some information on when she was in an orphanage/workhouse as I was told that she was put in an orphanage. Don't know how true this is but the person who passed this information was her elder sister(by 10yrs) doesn't seem right to me as her mother was still alive and she had a younger brother with no mention of him being in an orphanage.

Orphanage records are unlikely to be available online. Nor workhouse records for such recent dates.

Phoenix 22-02-21 20:26

There are plenty of examples in the early C20th of children being placed in orphanages while one or more parent was still alive because the parents were unable to cope. Conceivably, the eldest child might be old enough to go out to work, while younger children were too young to leave their mother - or a difficult period had passed.

once again thank you for your help
