I think this is the only person I have photographed in a 'proper' crinoline style dress. She is Emma Maynard, a granddaughter of my 3xg-grandparents. She was born in 1841 in Whittlesford, Cambs and this photo was taken some time before her marriage in 1868.

I'm not sure when this picture was taken, but this serious looking couple are my 3x great grandparents, Lucy and Thomas Cox. I'm not sure when it was taken. Lucy died in 1873 and Thomas a year later.

This picture is of Mrs Sarah Allen nee Rofe and was taken about 1864/5 as ths is the only times the photographer's name is styled this way and was at Rose Crescent.

Sarah was born about 1794 in Cambridge, the daughter of William Rofe and his wife, Sarah. She married Charles Allen in 1824. Charles and Sarah's daughter, Sarah Allen, married my great-great uncle, civil engineer Henry Nathan Maynard, in 1859. Her mother died in 1879, aged 85, in Monmouthshire, where the family were living during the construction of the Crumlin Viaduct.

Photographers Details: W Farren Photographer Rose Crescent, Cambridge.

Delving for more crinolines!

I don't know who this is, but the photographer's details suggest the picture was taken between 1858 and 1865.

Photographer: W Nicholls, St Mary's Passage, Cambridge.

Ann Garrett nee Draper (a very distant twig on my tree).

Ann was baptised in 1792 in Enfield, Middlesex, the dau of John and Sarah Draper. She married Henry William Garrett at St Saviour, Southwark, Surrey in 1816. Ann died in 1866 aged 75.

I don't know who this (presume) mother and child are either and this time there are no details on the photograph to help. The photographer was J Budd of Dunstable. He was an accountant in 1861 and a photographer in 1871.

The Greek key pattern was popular in the 1860s.

I hope this is the right decade for the following photo! :o

Sophia Purvis was born in 1791 in the Liberty of Norton Folgate, London, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Purvis. Sophia died unmarried on 29th Oct 1877 at Dunton Green, Kent. Sophia was 'deaf and dumb' from birth.
