Another set of Great Aunts and Uncles.

Great Auntie Sarah (born 1911) with Great Aunt Madge (born 1925) and Great Uncle Bert (born 1923).
Love the mud on Uncle Bert's knees!

As there was 20 years between Sarah and my Nana, she was like a Mother to her and as she had no children of her own was very close to my Mum and her siblings, and then me when I came along.
Sarah died in 1991.
Madge died in 2007.
Bert died in 2010.

25 April 1929, the wedding of my grandparents Herbert Edward Crisp and Adela Rose Steel at East Wittering, Sussex.

Bridesmaid Helen Richardson is following the couple, the four little girls are all the bride's Robinson nieces, Kathleen Steel is the taller one behind them. Behind the bridesmaids is either the bride's brother Jim, (James William Jacob Steel) or Jack (Alfred John Steel) and the bride's stepmother Harriet.

This was taken outside the Royal Oak in East Wittering where Rose's father Alfred was landlord and where the wedding reception was held. I'm told the dress was a very pale blue, and one of her great granddaughters has a fragment of the embroidery from it. The newlyweds set up home in a former coastguards cottage across the road.
