Scotland’s People now has Catholic births and baptisms

For those with Scottish Catholic ancestors, Scotland’s People has started making the Catholic registers available online, starting with births and baptisms.

The database covers dates from 1703 onwards, but the records for most parishes start much later than that. If you choose a date range to search, you will see which parishes actually have records included for those dates. You can search all missions and parishes at once, or select one or more (hold the CONTROL key down to select more than one). There is no county-level selection so it helps if you are familiar with Scottish placenames! Records are only available for people born before 1909.

There is much more to come as the rest of the registers go online – the Catholic parish registers include marriages, confirmations, deaths and burials, communicants, sick calls, status animarum, converts, first confessions and sent rents.
