Why do you think she might have been born in the Alston area in Cumberland, Jay?

It's only a guess really Kate, she first appears in Alston where her children are baptised.

These are the children i've found although Walton is a common name in Alston so they could be another couple with this same name!

Thomas bap 25/9/1814 (my 3 x great grandfather)
Utrick & Margaret bap 20/2/1820
Robert bap 20/10/1822
Phoebe & Ann bap 7/9/1828

I'm happy that the ones in red are the children of Elizabeth Walton on the 1841 census. There are other children baptised at Alston pre 1814 but I don't know if they are the same family.

My 3 x great grandfather Thomas was married twice, one cert has no father the other has his father as Thomas.

I'm fairly sure Thomas is the right family too. His daughter Elizabeth is on the 1851 census with her aunt Ann Nicholson. Ann's marriage confirms her father as Thomas.
