John Eugene Mccartan Casey
As you now know John Eugene Mccartan Casey was born in 1886 to Mary Elizabeth Casey (nee Meenan) and Francis Casey a Shipsmarster (sailing ship, never in the Royal Navy). At the time of his birth the Meenan’s were living at Silver Farm, Antrim.
John had 2 brothers Patrick Joseph Casey (b 1884 at Spring Farm) and Robert Francis Casey (b 1896 at Greenock) and a sister Mary Margaret Ellen Casey (b 1897 at Spring Farm). Their mother Mary Elizabeth Casey dies 2 months after the birth of Mary Ellen. Because Robert Casey is a shipmaster, working out of Greenock in Scotland, all the children have to be looked after by the maternal grandparents the Meenan’s at Ballycraigy Manor. Muckamore, Antrim. The 1939 census shows that John is a “Disabled war pensioner. As you know he dies in 1940. I do not think that he has any children with Beatrice We know nothing further about Patrick Joseph. Mary Margaret Ellen does not marry and remains in Muckamore until she passes away in 1966. Robert Francis does marry after service with both the army and Royal Flying Corps in WW1. He has 3 Children with Dorothy Annie Hyde. However he leave the family, without getting devoiced in about 1931. He rejoins the Army in 1939 but after a short period of service in Iraq, he returns to London and listed as retired. He lives with a Violet (Hardy) Casey (never married). He dies in 1966 in Southampton, where he had worked as a sales person in office stationer, before retiring. If you think that any of this is wrong, please let me know. |
