Default It's not that I'm jealous....

But Sib's child is more closely related to a cousin than I am.

They: 25 cM over 3 segments
Me: 19cM over 2 segments

cousin is 3rd cousin once removed to me. Clearly I need to get Sib tested!

Anyone else finding this sort of thing?

I only have Dad tested but discovered his cousin and a different cousin's son have also tested. They all share Dad's maternal DNA. However his cousin does not have any shared matches with Dad's grandma's side of the family while the other cousin's son does.

I know it looks odd but I honestly don't think there is any scandal at play, just the randomness of dna distribution.

Edit: just thinking. If granny had fooled around the cousin would not have shown up as a cousin anyway, would they?

Sib and I obviously have same NUMBER of genes from our mother's side, but clearly sib has a much larger chunk from Mum's father than I do.

It's strange how it works out, isn't it. It will be interesting if you get your sib tested too.

Sadly my sibling is no longer around to be tested. i'd be interested in seeing how his DNA profile differed from mine.

If you have any envelopes or stamps that he licked, Nell, you may be able to get his DNA tested in the not too distant future.
