Default I'm researching Egbert Pring

Hi I'm struggling to find the parents and birth certificate for Egbert Pring. The story starts 26/12/1940 where there was an argument and Egbert ends up hitting his head on a fire place and dying. There is a report in the Enfield Gezette but none of the family have ever talked about it and now all are dead.
His death certificate shows him dying at the age of 55 birth year 1885. He fathered many children with different surnames, Pring Shaw and could have been born a Bampton. He may have been born in Froyle Hampshire. Some of his children are Robert Pring b1919 Egbert Pring b1915 yet he didn't marry untill 1928 to Beatrice Stone formally Shaw. Other children which i have not fond are, names removedand 3 children that died young. His mother may have remarried a Watson as name removed is listed as being a step daughter but i'm not sure. In 1911 he lived in ponders end enfield middlesex where he worked in the Lea Valley gravel pits and was told that if he married Beatrice he would be cut out of his mothers will.
He may be the first ever case of identity thieft.
This is my first posting, help please.
Ken

Welcome to the site Ken.

Where did he say he was born on the 1911 census?

Also have you found him on the 1901 and 1891 census?

Ken, does his marriage certificate state his father's name and occupation?

This is from the 1911 census entry at Ponders End, Enfield, Middlesex but I haven't seen the image, just the free index info:

Richard Hellier Head 59 Bovey Tracey Devon
Elizabeth Jane Pring 52 Froyle Hampshire
Egbert Pring 24 Froyle Hampshire.

Ken, I've removed some of the names from your post in case the people concerned are still living as our forum policy is not to post details of living people without their consent. If you know for sure that any of them is no longer alive the name(s) can be put back in.

Ah, and I guess you already have this 1891 census entry since you mention the surname Bampton:
Shooters Hill Road, Kidbrook, London
John Pring Head M 43 Servant RMAS Milverton Somerset
Elizabeth J Pring Wife M 33 Froyle Hampshire
Egbert Bampton Nephew 6 Paddington London

Can you explain what you mean about identity theft, please? Are you saying that the Egbert Pring who married Beatrice wasn't the real Egbert Pring / Bampton but someone pretending to be him? (Though even if that is so, I'm sure there were plenty of cases of identity theft long before that - even going back as far as Jacob and Esau in the Bible!)

Elizabeth Jane Rampton was baptised 4 Jul 1858 at Froyle, Hampshire, parents James and Charlotte, and her birth registration is also spelt Rampton, so I think that Bampton on the 1891 census is a mistake and should be Rampton.

There is a birth registration for Egbert Rampton Jul-Sep 1885 Fulham vol 1a p 290. The birth certificate should tell you his parents' names, or at least his mother's name. It's possible that Elizabeth Jane could be his mother as illegitimate children were sometimes listed as nephew / niece on the census to avoid embarrassment. (Elizabeth Jane Rampton married Edward John Pring in 1887.)

Default egbert pring

Hi There is only one entry on any of the census records, for egbert pring froyle hampshire 1887. His death certificate put birth year as 1885 which is right for egbert bampton (paddington), nephew of elizabeth pring, again froyle hampshire. where ever i've found egbert i've found elizabeth. I can't find any birth certificates for egbert pring or bampton. Ok not identity thieft but created a new identity with no birth cerfificate or a fake one!!.
I don't have his marriage certificate yet. There was a another brother John pring called johney b1925 d1989.
If only i could find one of his relative before 1911. Is elizabeth an aunt or his mother? was he born out of wedlock and given away for an aunt to raise? Bible, yes like it!
Ken
PS Thank for editing anthing that is not appropreate.
