Four potential baptisms for Mary, 1701 at Billingshurst, 1700 at West Grinstead and given the Lewes marriage two at parishes within sight of Lewes: 1710 Beddingham and 1700 Hamsey. Not enough to draw any conclusions though.
These are my OH's ancestors and he has another Herriot (8th ggm) on another line, from Fletching.

I've just found an inventory dated 19 Sep 1732, value £266 18s 6d. From the latin at the end it seems he was intestate and administration was granted to his widow Mary and brother William. There were one hundred and one cheeses in the chamber over the beerhouse but he only had one cheese press.

Thankyou Janet and Vita, yes it gives a glimpse into their lives. He died during harvest time, the assessors waited until it was all gathered in before making the assessment, so there was "wheate in the barne unthreshed and a rick or oates" worth £88.
