Default Death registered twice ?.

Edward Hill seems to have his death registered twice, in 3rd Q 1845 and 3rd Q 1846 both have vol 17 and page 2 Burton on Trent.

I have not been able to find a burial for him that might give his age,

I have a Edward Hill born 1806 Burton on Trent, marries Sarah Smithard also born 1806 in 1827

1841 they are in Burton on Trent with children Charlotte age 11, John age 4 and Edwin 6months.

After that they disappear and the children are with the grandparents.

I have found a possible burial for Sarah Aug 11 1842 age 36 at Burton on Trent.

Can anyone find Edward Hill after 1841 or a burial for him please.

Why 2 death registrations ?

Presumably they are two different people, Sylvia. There is an Edward Hill birth registered Jul-Sep 1846 Burton on Trent district who could be the one who died in 1846.

The 1845 one must be the one who was buried 29 Jul 1845 at St Modwen, Burton on Trent, age 10. And the 1846 one 28 Jul 1846 same place, age 6 days. (From FMP)

Some of Burton's parish registers, St Modwen and Holy Trinity are now on the Staffordshire PR's on FMP now.

I can't find Edward Hill, but have found his father and step-mother in Hulme, Lancs in 1851 with some of his half-siblings. Perhaps he was not in the Burton area when he died (if he died!)

I saw:

Edward Hill (sr) two possible marriages to an Ann in Staffs in 1798 and 1802 (both on fmp)

Burial of Ann Hill wife of Edward at Burton on Christmas day 1809 (fmp doesn't appear to have an image for this, but if you look at the image for another Ann Hill in 1807 and go forward a few pages it is there!)

Remarriage of widower Edward Hill at Burton 1810 to Sarah Holmes, spinster.

1851 Collins St Hulme, Lancs

Edward Hill aged 74 forger b Sedgley Staffordshire
Sarah Hill 62 b Burton
various children and a 'relative' called Holmes.

I didn't look for the baps of the various children or and others for Edward and Ann.

Apologies if you have this already!

Thank you for looking Merry, I do have all that,

The "relative" is a granddaughter born to Thomas and Eliza Holmes nee Hill, Eliza is one of the children on that 1851 census, calling herself Eliza Hill and a widow, she had married Thomas Holmes in 1836, her first cousin and he had died 2 years earlier in 1849
