Daphne
Thanks again - I went off to look at Familysearch's online Cornish parish images and found Christopher's baptism and that of his elder brother. On Christopher's baptism entry the rector has added his death - 1828!

Nell, I checked the Online Parish records and it is 1828 on there too. I expect whoever transcribed thought the 8 looked more like a 2.
Day Month 03-Apr Year 1828 Parish Or Reg District Little Petherick Forename Christopher Surname BALL Age 76 Residence Trevillider OTP Notes Entry includes a lengthy unclear note by Rector Transcriber Notes Abode should be Trevillador I use this site a lot for my family before looking elsewhere. http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/

These registers are fantastic, Nell! I have had real success with my Cornish ancestors as the parish registers are online, and also with my Lincolnshire ancestors, thanks to Lincs to the Past.
One little note: When you first posted this thread I thought your ancestor's name was "Christopher Ball Cornwall" rather than "Christopher Ball of Cornwall" or "Christopher Ball, Cornwall"! I started doing searches for a man with the surname "Cornwall" - and there are a few! |

My mistake! Sorry Elizabeth. I'd alter it if I could - and also put his dates in!
