His will is on FMP but it doesn't give any indication of his previous life everything left to Margaret Jane, he owned land but no information on the land.

There's a few articles on Trove but still doesn't give any detail previous life but does mention his living at Stoney Creek.

Thanks Maggie.
I have most of his Trove reports I think. One was a notice changing his address from Stoney Creek to Daylford due to confusion over the place.
I have found on the freesettlerorfelon.com site an earlier mention of the name Putter back in 1847. Lochinvar is near Branxton (where he is buried) half way between Maitland and Singleton.

Item: 29108
Surname: Putter
First Name: M
Ship: -
Date: 1847 14 April
Place: Lochinvar
Source: MM
Details: Unclaimed letter held at Sydney Post Office.

Item: 18684
Surname: Pewter
First Name: Mark
Ship: -
Date: 1845 4 October
Place: Halfway between Maitland and Singleton
Source: MM
Details: 'The Red House'. Good accommodation, paddocks and stockyards

He didn't marry until later in life and they had no issue.

Do you think I have enough evidence now to conclude that Pewter and Putter are the same man?

Well I think it is him, two places I have seen mentioned is Greta ( can't remember where now) and Branxton his burial place, both those places are on the road between Maitland and Singleton.

looks like Mark Pewter became Mark Putter to me - probably the letter U put in as Pewter sounds like a U and not an E ??

The NSW BMD records index was originally on microfiche and then transferred online. I know for a fact that at least one record didn't make the transfer as my 4g grandmother does not appear online. She is on the fiche though. It is quite possible that other deaths were missed as well.

Yes, that is true. I used to have the set of vital records until they wouldn’t work on my laptop. There is obviously more than one missing.
Having said that, I have one person on four times under different names and another under three different years.
