I take it to mean a search that is not specific. Where was the term used?

When I search the parish registers for people I will do specific requests ie Fred Bloggs baptism in a certain year.(give or take a few years) or a marriage

No blanket requests means I will not search for all Fred Bloggs entries that I can find. This is because it is very time consuming - sometimes taking a couple of hours
