Default Week 16 - Charles Buckle

Charles Buckle was born in 1888, son of Richard and Fannie Buckle of Boldre in the New Forest in Hampshire. He worked on the farms in and around Boldre and married Annie Drodge, also from Boldre, in 1916.

I don't know when Charles joined up, but he enlisted with the Hampshire Regiment (Private 23134) probably after 1915 as his medal card does not show that he was entitled to the 1914-15 Star.

Charles was killed on 4th October 1917 towards the end of the Third Battle of Ypres. He has no known grave, but is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial.

Charles and Annie don't seem to have had children together and Annie remarried in 1920.
