There are no William Fe(a)rn birth registrations in Burton district at the right time, so hes probably one of these two depending on which age you go by (marriage or 1901):


Births Mar 1893

Fearn John William Burton 6b 382


Births Jun 1895

Fern John William Burton 6b 399

I feel the second one is more likely.

I hadn't taken in he was 16 in 1911 as well as 6 in 1901 so I expect those ages are right making the second birth reg most likely.

Are Swadlincote and Burton close to each other?

Yes very close. Swad does come under Burton I think.

Just checked. Up to 1936 it came under Burton from 1937 it came under Repton.

Just looked to see if an Allard or a Barrett married a Fe*rn but nothing. Thought they may have taken their relatives child in.
