I did see that one when I was speculating before the cert came. Sounds good. Need him in 1901 though. Will get onto this later.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Yes sounds reasonable but doesn't always follow. My grandfather was in the North Staffs in the boar war and in the Durham Light Infantry in the Great War. Burton born and bred.

Oh, confusing, because Betsy seems to be Mrs Henry Fearn in 1891, so presumably she and her son can be excluded.

That one is born in Church Broughton which was under Burton reg then.

Where is he in 1911 I wonder.

In 1901 they said he was born in Church Broughton, in 1901 in Swad. Not exactly too close to each other. I do know where both places are.

Maybe he made up his fathers name.

Just realised I was thinking I was looking at the 1911 census! No children for Betsy after 1911 because she would be too old!!!

Anyway, we can forget them because her first husband was Henry not John.

Sorry Jackie, I missed your posts because it's difficult to read the screen in the garden! Anyway, I've come I now - that census entry looks interesting!!!
