J T Hogg must be another child for Rebecca Purvis/Hogg. I expect the third child is going to be another for her as I always thought that big gap without children was suspicious!

Thanks very much for finding this Kate. Going to read up on all this whilct I stuff down something to eat!

There is a Richard Hogg death 2 May 1855 at Hobart, Tasmania, age 73, could be him though the age is a little bit out.

So he didn't learn by his mistakes.

No wonder Reynold Hogg didn't give any of this twig anything.

I would imagine it's even more likely Richard should slot into the other Hogg family somewhere. He is their black sheep! lol

Mary Ann Hogg remarried in 1848 (so I got that wrong about her being a widow in 1851!! - I should have checked my tree) saying she was a widow.

I haven't had a transported convict in my tree before. What else might I find out about him once he arrived?

I was just looking him up on Trove to see if there was any info. Also the Australian stuff on ancestry.

OK, well I'll keep a more open mind when looking for a baptism. I would think there's a good chance that's him though. I wonder what happened to his son?

I have to eat now.....
