Can anyone find this marriage?

I have John Cave (age 36) marrying Mary Jane Charters (19) in Sydney, Australia in 1848. John is from Clay Colton, Northamptonshire.

After Mary Jane dies in 1855 John marries Margaret Thompson in Grafton, NSW 1856.

On that marriage record it has John's parents as Richard Cave and Sarah Golding.

I've found a baptism for John Cave in 1812, in the right place with parents Richard and Sarah, but I cannot find a marriage or any other children for Richard and Sarah.

I'm assuming Golding is correct for Sarah's maiden name, but can't find any Richard and Sarah marriages that seem to fit.

I haven't found a marriage yet, but there are five baps at Clay Coton for children of Richard and Sarah (from FreeREG):

Rebecca 2 Mar 1817
Catherine 23 May 1819

Richard was a shepherd so he may have moved around the local area.

There's a Richard Cave and a Sarah Goldby marrying 28 Sep 1802 in Kimcote and Walton,Leicestershire.

Thank you. Freereg...of course. I do have Ancestry, but that link won't sign me in. No idea why Ancestry can't get its act together so you can go to the links. It seems to be if you're in a different country you can't.

Goldby/Golding......close enough...... I doubt my son would know my maiden name so I expect it was no different back then.

Those children fit nicely as John had a daughter, Catherine and I didn't know where that came from. Pity he went on to have two sons named John, both of whom lived well into adulthood. It's a thing with my lot.

Yes, Leicestershire is close to Northamptonshire. There are a couple of public trees on ancestry which have Sarah Goldby or Goadby as the mother of the Northamptonshire children but the one with the most attached records etc won't load for me (Hutsby Family Tree). They have a son William Cave born 29 Dec 1806 Northamptonshire included.

I had a trawl through the Clay Coton parish registers https://www.ancestry.com/interactive...07581048_01030

but got tired. Went back to about 1790 without seeing a marriage...so likely in another parish if Sarah was an outsider
