Default Certificates

Ordered one from the GRO last week, first time in ages and the despatch date is estimated at the 12th Dec - are they really taking that long these days?

Oooh what a long time to have to wait when, no doubt, you wuld like to have the info yesterday!

I've not ordered a certificate for ages, so I'm afraid I don't know the normal current waiting time.

I remember when they used to come in three or four days! I've found out that a grandmother (who I never knew) died a few years ago so really want to get my hands on the thing :/

I ordered one from Scotland - but needed it urgently so had to pay £30 - it arrived next day!!!

Then posted it to USA and was told 5-8 working days - it took 3 days.

I wonder if it's so long because I didn't know the ref - I know the date of death but as it was 2009 I couldn't look up the details
