What happened to Ann Stowell?

I have been making the most of the new Westminster records coming onto Ancestry, to trace baptisms and burials for my Stowell family. I found my gg grandfather Samuel James Stowell's baptism and birth (1834), his father's birth and baptism (1809), his uncle's baptism (1817) and burial (1819) and his grandmother Ann's burial (1828). The real surprise was the baptism of a previously unknown sister Ann on 5th Sept 1836. Both Samuel James and Ann were baptised at St Margaret's Westminster, parents Samuel and Elizabeth. Samuel is listed as being in the 2nd Guards in 1834 and as a Private Coldstream Guards in 1836, so I am sure it is the same family.
Samuel and Elizabeth went to Canada with the Guards and in February 1838, they had a daughter Catherine there. I have records to show that Samuel junior was at school in London during their stay in Canada and was wondering what happened to Ann. When I searched for her, the only possible one that I found was a burial on 24th March 1838 St John the Evangelist Westminster, but there residence was lsted as Workhouse. How likely is it that this is the right Ann and how would she have ended up in the workhouse, whilst her parents had gone to Canada?

Couldn't it be that your Ann went to Canada with her parents? I don't think there are complete records for Canada online for that period.

They were only in Canada whilst Samuel was serving out there and would have returned to England in 1842. I haven't found any trace of her after that. It is always possible that she died out there.

I suppose you could order the 1838 death cert and see if it gives her father's name.

That is a possiblity, although I would think that a death cert from a workhouse is unlikely to give much info, except which workhouse it was.
