Following KiteRunner's help with Caleb Osborne I have looked over the border into Surrey for George's baptism.

I found a bapt for George Potterton, "bastard son of Sarah Potterton" at Cranleigh, Surrey, on 15 Apr 1759. Sarah married Solomon Knight at Cranleigh on 5th Sept of the same year. They had another son, William in 1761.
