Red face Robert William Henry Fisher's parents & possible adoption

Me again, still trying to sort out my mother's fathers side!

I now have in my possesion his birth certificate and thanks to everyone's input last weekend, know that his father was one Robert Spink Fisher and according to his birth certificate Jane Ann Fisher ,nee Simpson. However, I can find his father's first wife Mary Ann Shaw (marriage in Dewsbury 1893) but no death post 1901 census and no new marriage to Jane between 1901 census and Robert W H's birth in May 1905. Are there divorrce records I can search?

I think he was adopted by one Susan Alice Charlotte Wilson(probably no relation to him after all) after his parents died (although again I can't find the deaths) before the 1911 census so are there adoption records I can search?

I also have Robert W H's marriage certificate and he states his father is one William Fisher deceased so what's that all about? I know he wasn't an awfully honest chap

Lots of questions sorry- seems to solve one mystery and create another!!

There won't be any official adoption records as that didn't start until 1927

Without looking at any records it's likely there was no second marriage for Robert Spink Fisher - no one would ask if your were genuinely married when registering a baby. Therefore there probably was no divorce.

In 1911 he is without any wife, says he is married and that he has been for 18 years, so that would be the first (only) marriage.

I don't know if this is the right death, but if it was then it was actually after his son's marriage (I think - I've not looked at your old thread)

Name: Robert S Fisher
Death Registration Month/Year: 1939 Q2
Age at death (estimated): 68
Registration district: Dewsbury
Inferred County: Yorkshire West Riding
Volume: 9b
Page: 705

to fit with:

Births Jun 1870
Fisher Robert Spink Dewsbury 9b 604

Unless you get lucky with the birth address I think it's going to be difficult (impossible?) to trace the correct Jane Ann Simpson, as there are loads!

I noticed Susan Wilson had a lot of single young women in her house in 1901 and did wonder if she was running some sort of home for 'fallen women' for want of a better expression! There was also a baby with no apparent parents (though I did later find that the parents of the child were apparently married, so that didn't fit.)
