Red face Which Mary?

I was wondering if anyone can help me again?

I am still looking at my father's side but his maternal line
I have his GG grandfather as Richard Wright- born abt 1823- he marries a Mary in 1843 (Lapish or Bamford) who shows on 1851 & 1861 as being born in Leeds born abt 1821, then as Mary A born abt 1826/8 Royston Herts in 1871, 1881 & 1891

I can't confirm either or both Mary if the 1st one died, left him etc
Any suggestions- I find marriage documents/searches really difficult to fathom

Many thanks

Alison

If money is no object (lol!) then you could get a birth cert for a child of the first couple. Obviously, you have to be as certain as possible you are going to get one for the right couple as Wright is a fairly common name. However, there's only the one birth reg for an Amelia (aged 3 in 1851)

Births Jun 1847
Wright Amelia Leeds 23 480

Just fiddling with the other Mary............

Bother, I don't have time to look any more, but I guess someone else will come to your rescue soon!

Marriages Sep 1870
ASKEW Anne Leeds 9b 450
Ransley William Leeds 9b 450
Turton Mary Ann Leeds 9b 450 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
WRIGHT Richard Leeds 9b 450 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

It's most probably this one. If you look at the 1851 she is a servant in Baldock, Herts.

I guess there will be a lot of possible deaths for the first Mary (I've not looked)

Bye!

Just found Mary Ann Turton myself.
Amelia is definitely one of the 1st Mary's offspring
I'll keep looking for the 1st Mary's
Thanks for your input

I wonder if Stella knows something about this as she is also reasearching this family

A

Alison, I'm sorry, but, apart from my famous Richard Wright (the murderer), I have done very little research of the Wrights as yet - been concentrating more on my maternal side of the family.

The 1843 marriage is on Yorkshire BMD and Richard Wright married Mary Lapish at St Mark, Woodhouse, (Mary Ann Bamford married Benjamin Fearnley) but of course that doesn't mean it's definitely your Richard.

There is a Mary Lapish baptism on FamilySearch Record Search 29 Sep 1820 St Peters, Leeds, parents Jonathan and Mary, so it's looking good.
