Talbot of Gloucestershire
Am a member of Ancestry but have been stuck for a long time on a Talbot. My several times grandfather. The trail ends with him. Last confirm 3x grandfather as follows;
William Talbot B:25 Jun 1833 Chewton Mendip, Somerset, England D:July 1864 Somerset, United Kingdom ProfileSearchQuick edit I think I have his father as John Talbot and his mother as Ann Talbot --- 1806 and 1805 respectively. But everything stops with them. Does anyone have any information on either of them or can you direct me where on Ancestry I can go further. Many thanks. Not sure if this is the right place for me to make this request. |

Yes, this is the right place to ask! Patricia, can you tell us who William Talbot married (assuming he did) and where and when, please? And which of his children was your direct ancestor? It should be easier for us to look into it if we have that info.

From the 1861 census his wife was Caroline:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...cklabel=Return but the registrations for his children show mmn Newth and there's a marriage for Wm Talbot to Catherine Newth (Bath Register Office or Approved Premises) in 1856. When Wm's widow remarries to Henry Stringer in 1867 she is Caroline Talbot or Newth (Bath BMD)
