I think what I did was copy the gedcom and then delete unwanted people from there. Deleting lines if possible. I found it was messy and some people remained unattached to anything, so I had to trawl the tree to delete unwanted people.

On ours we go to (drop down menu) and choose File, then Gedcom, then Export and on the next screen choose 'selected people' and the next screen 'Entire branch (all ancestors plus all descendants of ancestors)' and it asks who is the root individual.

On the next screen it tells me how many people will be included and asks if we want to deselect anyone (individuals or lots of other possible computations such as the ancestors or descendants of a particular person etc etc). Then 'copy the selected people now' and then it asks you where you want to save the file and the option to name it. The next screen asks of you want to include notes or pictures or a load of other things and what sort of gedcom file you want (the normal one is an Ansel file but there are several different ones) and then it's done!!

Obviously the method is not going to be identical on your program, but I expect it's pretty similar.

Maybe someone else can advise and also about uploading to Tribal pages as I don't know anything about that.

Can't help with splitting file, never managed to split my side and Phil's, but Libby, you can make other folk administrators to your Tribal site. Go to Edit, you should have a different password for that from getting onto your website, at least I have as it advised it.
Under Maintainance click on Administrators. You can then add other people who can work on your tree.
Add administrators (other than yourself) to your site. Administrators can make changes to your site. Click the Invite Administrators button to add members. Administror: Administrators can view Private Data on your site. They have limited ability to make changes. They can add names and pictures but cannot make any other changes.
