Henry MILLS
Name - "official" name and what they were known as
Henry Mills Date and place of birth Before 18 Dec 1822 (probably) in Newington, Middlesex Names of parents James Mills and Sarah unknown (probably - see notes on his baptism) Date and place of baptism - if applicable 18 Dec 1822 St John Hackney - parents James and Sarah Mills of Newington. The problem is the date - on the censuses and his death cert Henry's age consistently suggests a dob of 1824. However, everything else (father's name and occupation, location) match. They are the only suitable Mills family baptising children in the area at that time. Details of each of his or her marriages - if any 25 Dec 1845 St Lukes Finsbury to Mary Flexman Occupation(s) - if any Journeyman baker Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!). 1841 - can't find him 1851 - Brook Street Tottenham 1861 - the part of Islington where they were living is missing 1871 - 52 Norfolk Road Islington 1881, 1891, 1901 - 67 Norfolk road Islington Date, place and cause of death 11 April 1902 at 67 Norfolk Road Islington - syncopic acute bronchitis Date and place of burial. 16 April 1902 Islington Cemetery Details of will / administration of their estate - if applicable Not known Memorial inscription - if any Not known Last edited by Lindsay; 19-03-11 at 14:30. |

1841 Census
MILLS, Henery ST GILES CAMBERWELL, Surrey HO107 piece 1052 folio 6/13 page 18 "Henery" is with a James and a Sarah, both aged 40. James is a brewer. Is this possible? Newington and Camberwell are very close - both south of the river. |

I think the baptism and marriage match father's occupation of shoemaker.

His father James was a shoemaker so I doubt if the brewer is the right family, but thanks for looking, Asa and Elizabeth.

Well here's a Henry Mills in the Old Kent Road Journeyman Baker
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...=&pid=16057324 ...and here's a James and Sarah Mills - James - Shoemaker. They seem a bit spread about though! http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...=&pid=15300314 Last edited by maggie_4_7; 20-03-11 at 08:33. |

The problem is, there just too many Mills about! What I really want is to find the whole family together in 1841 (it's not much to ask, is it? ).
I'll follow up those suggestions, Maggie, thanks. |

The baptism is Hackney, so the Newington would be Stoke Newington
