Where does the money come from?
When William George Hawkins dies in 1929, he's as poor as a church mouse.
But three months later, his widow administers his estate and receives £130. She goes on to administer the estates of two deceased sons and receives a further £130. I have to assume that her surviving children share a further £130. So there was £390 going begging. This money must have come from her side of the family, since there was nothing to spare on her husband's. Mary Jane Elizabeth Darling's paternal grandfather was Cosmo William Darling. I'm trying to remember whether I saw Ann's or not at TNA. I certainly saw Cosmo's but I don't think it said very much.
If money is left to a child who died in 1906, does that imply that the person leaving the money must also have died before that date?
