Two questions .......
Taking advantage of Ancestry's free weekend, I've been checking over things
& notice a ref in Parish Records to Aston Axbridge, Middlesex but I can't find anything on a place of that name. I think it must have been near Uxbridge but hoped to be able to pinpoint it more accurately. Also - and I probably should know, but don't - when it lists 'Household Members' on Parish birth records does it mean that those named were actually resident at the time? |

Can you give precise references, Vita?
No parish register would refer to "household members" so this must be Ancestry's wording. It is very difficult to make assumptions. My mother wasn't baptised where she was born, nor when she was born. Her parents gave their parents' addresses when they married. In general, "of this parish" means what it says but there are exceptions. Baptisms require sponsors, rather than parents. One parent could be absent and, in a busy parish, the clergy none the wiser. (In a rural parish, dodgy behaviour leads to all sorts of comments)

I would imagine that ancestry labels the baby and the parents as "household members".

This is the only "Aston Axbridge" reference I could find, but it is in non-conformist records rather than parish records. I assume it is the one you're talking about, though, Vita, since it is a Headland:

In reply to Phoenix's question - Christiana's father Thomas Atkinson is shown as a 'Household Member' for the birth of two of her children, Thomas Hughes (1806) & Mary Ann (1810) but he was normally resident in Holborn. |

I guess they are just using it to mean "family member".

Doesn't the free weekend allow you to look at the images vita? It doesn't mention Household Members on the image - that's Ancestry just trying their best!!
