Default 1841 Census can you have a look please

1841 census

Rachel Dawson is on the right hand column about 6 lines down with her daughter's Sarah and Mary.

My question is do they live on their own or are they in a house with Mary Hudson as the head (bottom of left hand column)?

There is another Mary Dawson at the top of the right column and a John Dawson and assumedly his wife Ann also in the left column. I'm wondering if they are all connected, which is another question but Hudson is an unfamiliar name so I'm a little confused.

The lines denote that they are a separate household although they might well live in the same dwelling. As the surnames are the same I would think it likely they are connected.

I've been caught out before by assuming a connection.

Both Mary and Rachel are both 45 so could be sisters in law. John could be the son of Mary as she is listed below John but until you can find proof.

The Hudson children could be lodgers.

Could they all be in the same house possibly - I have 33 people in one house

The 1s in the second column indicate the physical buildings, marked by double lines. Single lines indicate different units within the house. From this distance, we can only guess what the arrangements within the house actually were.
I'd go for Ann Dawson being a daughter of Ann Turner and Mary Hudson being a Dawson before she married a Mr Hudson, but that is a simplistic reading and reality could be very different.

Thanks everyone. I'd missed the line showing a separate household.

Double checking my tree gives me a few avenues to try and fit these people in but they are all current brick walls. Rachel's husband's father died when he was 3, so his mother may have remarried.
