Okay.........

Yes Merry, that was him on the 1851 census. At this point I have to apologise for putting up the post without checking all the information. I had better stand in the naughty corner. My excuse is that the wretched Downings have scrambled my brain cell.

Margaret, yes his wife was Jane Downing (hehe, sorry Merry) and she was his second wife, the first one dying shortly after their marriage. He did indeed live in Bramley eventually, and thank you so much for finding his death. I have only just started researching the Coopers seriously, and am very grateful for the help

Thanks Merry, I was just having a look and in 1851 William was a widower so that looks about right. There is a death of a newborn, Thomas Cooper, at the same time.
