Lydia Goodridge age 7 is recorded as Grand Daughter of Henry Goodridge in 1861. Her name transcribed as Luke: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery...=successSource

Have not found William in 1861 but is here in 1851: Salisbury St Thomas age 18 and a Porter's Apprentice, born Charlton, Wilts: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery...=successSource

I will look at that death ref but think I may have dismissed it on a previous occasion.

You didn't say what happened to Elizabeth, so I also wondered about this death (given she wasn't with Lydia in 1861):

GOODRIDGE, ELIZABETH 3
GRO Reference: 1859 D Quarter in NEWINGTON Volume 01D Page 175

She was buried in the same cemetery as Ann, but from South St, Walworth.

Thanks for that Merry. I have not found Elizabeth anywhere and this might be her. Can you tell me where the cemetery records are please? I have Ancestry and FMP.

For some reason my reply did not go through - I expect I pressed the wrong button.

Update now:

Have downloaded the digital part of the Ann who died in 1859. Her date of death was 4/7/1859. Address: 26 Belgrade Place, Walworth. Wife of William Goodridge a Railway Carman. She died if Pthisis age 26.

Have searched for William at that address in the 1861 census but there is a different family altogether. I also searched it in 1851 in case this is a different couple, but the street numbers do not go up to 26.

Then searched for other births for Elizabeth Goodridge in 1856 plus or minus 2 years. Looked at the marriages for those MMN that appeared and was able to discount all of them apart for the one with MMN Shelly (my Elizabeth). So, it looks like this might well be my couple. Just would like to see the cemetery records that Merry mentioned but cannot find them. I must be looking in the wrong place.

You really are all geniuses for identifying this death as my Ann Goodridge and I cannot thank you enough.

Thank you for those links. Think I might get the digital image of Elizabeth's death too.

Downloaded the death cert extract for Elizabeth and was pleased to see that her Father is shown as William Goodridge a general carman. She died on 30/12/1859 and were at 3 Providence Street, Newington at this time. Still no luck finding William in the 1861 at this address either.

Thanks again to the help you have given me.

I would imagine men without a family in tow would be the most likely people to be missed from the census, or incorrect details recorded, especially in a big town or city.

There are a lot of pieces missing from the 1861 census.

I think I have enough to satisfy the tying up of some loose ends for this branch, so will not continue to search for William in 1861 for now. I have him after this up until his death.

Thank you for all your input.
