Alfred James Wall - help please
Hello I have got myself confused over this family.
Alfred born 1832 in St Johns Evangelist to Henry Wall and Ann Cotmore. From what I can phathom Alfred James Wall married Hannah Elizabeth Hubbert on the 9th April 1860 in Lambeth. (although his dad is indexed as Arron Wall and not Henry) Then he shows up married to Harriet Mary Short born 1852 in about Aug 1874. He is indexed as a widow in this marriage. However they are under the same roof in 1871 and Hannah does not appeared to have died until 1874 and they have quickly married. My confusion is about the 10 children - I have only 9 children. Harriet claims these 10 children as her own in the 1911 census with 8 living. The children found are Alfred Joseph Wall 1867 m Cecila Powell James William Wall 1868 Henry Ambrose Wall 1870 m Sussanah Edith Crook Annie Theresa Florence Wall 1871 m James Owston George J Wall 1873 m Emma Ellen Short Nelly Beatrice Wall 1875 m Octavius Charles Wall 1878 -1949 Alfred Bertie Wall 1879 Ida Marie Wall 1893 m George William Clarke If anyone can help me sort this family I would appreciate it. It might be expected that Octavius would be the 8th child, so have you investigated this one?
Births Sep 1876 WALL William Albert T St. Saviour 1d 77 Deaths Jun 1877 WALL William Albert T 0 St Saviour 1d 50 Nellie was born 25 June 1875 (according to her adult baptism), so if that's right William Albert could just about fit in.

Alfred Bertie seems to actually be Albert Edwin on his birth reg and baptism.
Annie Theresa wasn't registered for birth until Q1 1873. Henry Ambrose was b 1869 (Reg Q4). Ida Marie was b 1892 (reg Q4)

Do you already know which of the nine children you originally listed didn't live until 1911?

I've only got two in 1871, so I suspect that James William b 1868 must have died young.
Interesting (but not surprising) that the early children are given their father's surname. Henry was still with Hannah in 1861.

Scrub that - I've just been lazy. 3 of them on census in 1871.

Wow! you have both done very well. I have a break and you have got all this sorted for me. So you think they all belong to Harriet and none to Hannah? I thought she might be just claiming them 'all' as hers seen as she raised them. Hannah and Albert must have separated before 1867.
