I think that's the third marriage. I can't see anything for the second one (or the first one! lol). First should be before 1841 to Esther and the second after 1849 Q3 and before the 1851 census, to the other Elizabeth.

Not sure about that Merry. 1891 census (haven't found him yet in 61, 71 and 81) has an Elizabeth as wife but the age and place of birth is different to the Elizabeth in 1851.

That Elizabeth was born c1837 in Retford, Notts

Yes, so the 1851 wife is Elizabeth X and the one after 1856 is Elizabeth Pasley?

Thanks M & M

What you are saying seems to fit in with what my contact said...

She said that in 1846 in Leeds, Thomas W and registered a baby named Thomas and his wife was Esther His occupation was given as a shoemaker.

Esther died in 1849 in the 3rd quarter. She thought his second wife was another Elizabeth who died in Sheffield in 1857, after Thomas's marriage to Elizabeth Pasley -

Where the heck is Thomas on the other census? Anyone found him?

I couldn't leave it like that Joan. I'd want to know all of his wives names and get all the certs.

Think those places of birth are on the wrong line. 1861 has Thomas as Wareham and Elizabeth as Retford
