Son of.....
Does anyone have any idea at what age a minister might stop recording a burial as "son of ...."? Or was it, as I suspect, just on the whim of the Vicar?
Thanks

I have come across one or two who were adults but normally it was only used for children.

I too have come across "son of" for an adult but the father is always someone important, at least locally. (Daughter of, for an adult female nearly always means an unmarried woman).

I have that on lots of the Ariel records, even for adult children and married daughters.

Thank you all.
I was hoping that there might be an upper age limit to this to help me narrow down a possible birth date. I am of course clutching at straws as usual!
