There are a couple of possible baptisms at Pensford (St Thomas Church) on FreeREG:
25 Nov 1798, parents Geo and Mary
11 May 1800, parents John and Hester

The marriage is on FreeREG too, with bride's surname given as Hale. Witnesses are George Cox and Hester Heal, and William is of the parish of Publow. There is a baptism for a George with parents George and Mary in 1801 who could be the witness but you would need more proof than that to be sure that your William is the George and Mary one, not the John and Hester one.

And his burial is also on FreeREG - buried at St Mary's church, Stanton Drew, 1 May 1889, age 90.

Thanks very much Kite. Free reg is good for Somerset. There were several Cox families in the area and I have not got any thing to say which is which. The family were non confornist and I think I need to check the Weslyan Chapel in Pensford as well. I have a birth certificate for one of the children which gives Rachel's maiden name as Heal rather than Hale but I think they spelt it either way. My grandmother used to say her grandfather was very proud of being born in the 18th century so I think the 1798 one is more likely.

Thankyou very much for referring me to free reg Kite. I have found a baptisms for Hester and Rachael who were sisters as Heale and a burial for their father Moses in 1807 aged 53 which gets me back to about 1750.
