Hi Merry Thankyou ive just read the Pm .your research is simply brilliant I never thought id ever find any evidence about Jim Lawrence again.I coulddnt have done anything with out you and your brilliant team in my family history and its much appreacated.by me. this is still the best geneolgy forum In the world.you comlpletly put yourself out to help others a rare attrubute in this time

yeah it must be I was sent it by email .so not sure but well spotted you could be right? john and rebecca look like a handsome couple .does anyone know if there professionaly taken photographs. can anyone guess a date of the photos were taken please as I didnt get a date with either photograph?

At what date would the couple have been aged about 30?

I think it's pretty impossible to accurately date the painting but I'd say she's over 30 and as she died not much over 40 then perhaps between 30 and 40. Her clothes look later if anything - more like 1890s, but that would mean she is someone else.


Unusual for someone working class to be painted I would have thought. Do your relatives own the painting or do they only have a photo of it?

Oh, I just looked - John and Rebecca both born about 1865 according to the 1911 census, so if that's them they must be looking very young because the photo is definitely later a lot later than the ages I thought they were. I'd date the photo as 1910-1919.
