Default Watts family of Freshford, Somerset

Thomas Watts married Jane Greenhill 1829 at Farleigh- Hungerford, Somerset.

Thomas died in 1874 and Jane in 1883 at Freshford, Somerset.

I can find them in the 1841 Census at Freshford, Somerset: Thomas, 35, is a mealman, born outside county; Jane, 30, born County as are the children - Edward 11, William 9, James 7, Arthur 6, Cathrine 3, Henery 1 and also Louisa Greenhill 20 (who I think is Jane's sister).

I am trying to establish for sure that Thomas was born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, but I need the evidence of the Census. I have not been able to find them after 1841. Can anyone find them in the 1851, 1861 or 1871 Census please? Julie (I'm going around in circles and have looked on freecen, familysearch and I think also Ancestry.)

Found them on Ancestry in the 1851 and 1861 Census at Freshford, Somerset:

In 1851 Thomas 47 mealman born Trowbridge, Wiltshire

in the 1861 Thomas 57 postmaster and grocer born Freshford, Somerset ..

grrh I know they are places are close, it doesn't help positive proof where he was born..

I still can't find them in the 1871 .. help please. Julie

The rest are in Bradford as well and Thomas was born Trowbridge. There's another child Eliza aged 7 as well.

Yeah I think sometimes it was Somerset and other times Wiltshire as it is very close to the border. Strangely I can only find the youngest child's baptism - Henry Spackman Watts in 1850. Thanks Lib.

Lib the family are together in 1841 and 1851 at Freshford - except James and Arthur in 51, then in 1861 Edward, William, James are gone and then Arthur comes back. Henry George is called Henry in 41 and George in 51 because born 50 they have Henry Spackman Watts. If that makes sense .. but where in 1871 .. grrh

Odd...how I have them in Freshford, but the census is for Bradford, Wiltshire...lol

They aren't in the Somerset 1851 census just the Wiltshire one. Did that place change counties like Bristol?

Are you expecting to find Thomas and Jane in 1871 or do you know when they died?

I'll go for a lookee...
