Merging two Ancestry accounts.
Is this possible?
I took up an offer for a cheap sub on Ancestry but used a different email address. Now I have one ‘dead’ account and one new one with nothing on it. I have also changed my home address so even that is different......if that makes any difference. Does anyone know if, and how, I can use my old info with my new account. Thanks.

I don't know of a way but I suppose you could phone them to ask.

Then I’d have to tell them I took out a cheap sub for first time.

Assuming that you want to move your tree to the new account perhaps you could download a gedcom from the old account and then upload it to the new one?

Actually I was hoping to bring everything across to the new one. Usually when Ancestry has a deal, I use another email account and it still uses my current account. This time it opened a whole new one from scratch.

I don't know whether you would - you just need to say you've somehow ended up with two accounts and can you merge them without losing your current sub.

Oh, but I just googled and found this from Ancestry support from three years ago saying it is impossible to merge accounts:

do you have a tree on ancestry? I think you can give permission to other accounts to access the tree. Just make your new account administrator on the old one so then you can access it from either place.

I was thinking about that Toni. Thanks. No idea why it happened.

Ancestry is a mystery to me today. I have no ideas.
